Pratley Perlite Mining Co. mines and processes South Africa's only viable Perlite and Zeolite deposit. The expanded Perlite, Pratliperl®, differs from conventional Perlite. It has very well sealed beads and being much stronger, it is ideal for mixing with Portland Cement for the production of ultra lightweight concrete or for building structures which require the highest degree of thermal insulation and fireproofing. Similar to Pratliperl®, Thermoperl® is specifically designed for use as an ultra smooth-finish, thermally insulating plaster.

Pratley Slag-Ag® is an inert, naturally occuring volcanic glass (perlite) which produces no obnoxious fumes or smoke whatsoever. It allows for the skimming of slag off ladles in one simple operation. Pratley Slag-Ag® forms a heavy, viscous, cellar, toffie-like slag which adheres to itself and insulates the surface of the melt. It is a real advance in meltshop practise.

Pratley Vulture Creek Clino® is a natural Zeolite. It is an aluminium silicate rock with unique properties which has been extensively researched by Pratley. Vulture Creek Clino® finds uses in animal feeds, nuclear waste cleanup, pollution control, ion exchange, catalysis, molecular sieving, fish farming and swimming pool filtration, to name but a few. This particular Zeolite, "Clinoptilolite" (Clino), mined by Pratley at Vulture Creek, is unique due to its purity, homogeneity and most importantly, its exceptional hardness.
